2010 Nugget 276 by Michael Kimnetzer, Central Lake Michigan
2010 Nugget #276 crafted by luthier Michael Kimnetzer in Central Lake Michigan. Since the 1970s, Mike Kimnetzer has a well deserved reputation for building some of the finest mandolins of the new era, and his meticulous craftsmanship speaks for itself. A rigorous student of the 1920s Gibsons mandolin models signed and dated by Lloyd Loar, his strive toward perfection is clearly evident on this example of his work. Features include highest quality red spruce top, one-piece back of curly maple, slab-cut one-piece neck, side binding on top, adjustable bridge and truss rod, 1 1/16 inch nut and custom stylized fern peghead inlay of the most delicate design and workmanship imaginable. The sound of this instrument also seems to us to be inspired by the 1923 Loars, as it has the commanding focus and presence of a top grade professional instrument. This F-5 type mandolin is a pleasure to play, action and intonation is perfect, as this instrument, though well played has been carefully maintained. A Nugget F-5 of this quality is relatively rare, as his production is reputed to be low, and his focus is clearly on quality over quantity. Please inquire for price.
