1943 00-18 Martin guitar #84175
Unbelievably original Martin Guitar from 1943!

1943 00-18 Martin 84175
From the family of the original owner, this guitar remains in extremely fine original condition, with almost no sign of wear. C. F. Martin 00-18 guitar #84175 was one of a batch of 25 00-18 guitars stamped on May 11, 1943 and 84175 was cleared final inspection on July 7, 1943. There have been no repairs; original factory neck set remains intact with optimal playing geometry. Original bridge plate is intact and shows no sign of wear. Specifications are identical to factory settings for that model and year and, as started in the 1941 Martin catalog, includes “Mahogany body finished dark, with natural color spruce top; edge is bound with dark fibroid; sound hole and top border inlaid with black and white lines; Mahogany neck (with 14 frets clear the body); (Brazilian) Rosewood fingerboard and bridge; pearl position dots and white side dots. Nickel plated tuning machines (Kluson tuners with white buttons), hand polished lacquer finish.” Other specs include (in inches): Body 14 3/4 inch wide; Neck 1 11/16 at nut, 2 1/8 at 12th fret; 2 3/16 string spacing at bridge. Ebony truss rod keeps neck at perfect relief. Guitar resides in original Harptone chipboard case with faux alligator cover and Protex pick compartment (patented 1939). Often, when we find an instrument with very little signs of playing, we wonder how the sound will compare to a well-warn war horse; this guitar does not disappoint in any way, and we rank it among the very best sounding 00 Martins we have had in over 40 years of guitar trading. In every way, this is the most perfect vintage guitar we have ever uncovered. We have taken the liberty of replacing the Kluson tuners with a seamlessly installed identical modern reproduction. (The originals—which were made with war-time metal conservation in mind and are notorious for problematic function—are intact and stored in the case). We offer to include Free Shipping via overnight UPS to destinations east of Mississippi (and we will share costs to other destinations including overseas); we will ship in modern hardshell with original to follow via ground UPS. As is the case with all our transactions, we offer our customers a 48-hour approval period.
